What is the expected time commitment?
Depending on the time of year, members of Vitality spend 3-12 hours/week on competition entries, lab and field work, and committee tasks. Vitality can be balanced with other commitments, but all members must learn effective time management.
What is the program timeline?
Each season, the program runs from June-June (usually aligns with end of school year in Fremont). Members may resign at any time, but their position will not be filled until the following year's application cycle.
Do I need to live in Fremont to apply to Vitality?
Generally yes; most of our work is in person. Unless you are willing to make long drives multiple times a week, only students in or near the Fremont area should apply to Vitality. However, Institute for Vitality has other programs nationwide, with more coming to the Bay Area soon!
What is the cost for Vitality?
Membership dues are typically around $1000/student/year, with additional travel expenses. If there is genuine financial need, please let us know and we will try to make something happen.
What experience do I need to apply?
No experience required. We want students who genuinely want to learn, to serve humanity, and to experience this once in a lifetime opportunity.
